Greener Pastures Horse Rescue is a family run organization. Our Not For Profit filing is in progress. Greener Pastures is dedicated to saving equines from slaughter, PMU animal testing, abuse and neglect. We offer foster facilities to Calaveras Humane Society and Calaveras Animal Control, on an as-needed basis.

We have been established since October 2007 and are located in the peaceful country town of Valley Springs CA.

Our Mission:

Our mission is two-fold:

#1 To save equines from the devastating effects of slaughter, animal testing, abuse and neglect and find them the loving caring home we know they truly deserve.

#2 To educate the general public about negative conditions many horses face and thereby, reduce the number of horses involved in neglect or abuse situations.

From the smallest Miniature Pony to the biggest Shire, from new born foals to the eldest senior (equine) citizens, every equine is welcomed here at Greener Pastures with loving arms and a hope for the future.

Greener Pastures is operated by Randy and Amanda Stoops, and numerous members of their extended families.

Randy hails from the Bay Area, where he worked as a master mechanic. He is currently self employed in Valley Springs when not involved in the operation of Greener Pastures
Amanda hails from Shellharbor, N.S.W Australia, where she was involved with horses since childhood. At age 15, she began learning from Gai Waterhouse Training Stables, the #1 thoroughbred racing trainer in Australia. She has an extensive CV which is available on request.
